A Moment of Appreciation: Wednesday Night in Fortaleza

Tonight I was hanging out with one of my friends down here, just drinking a few beers, relaxing, playing guitar…We decided to go sit out on the patio of their house and see if the Supermoon was maybe still out. Didn’t catch it but instead I had this moment of total clairvoyance. As we sat there in a comfortable silence I listened to the city sleeping; only a few cars driving by down below, the wind blowing through the air with the smell of the ocean on it, the bugs chirping. I sat in astonishment at the realization that even in a city as huge as Fortaleza with little to no wildlife or nature, you can still hear the crickets singing if you stop to listen.
