Last week Amber and I took a spontaneous little road trip to Greeter Falls. Located in Altamont, Tenn. (about an hour and a half from Nashville), Greeter Falls has a 1.5 mile hike and the most enchanting swimming hole I’ve ever been to. Taking a big spiral staircase to get down to the falls, instantly I thought…Mermaid Lagoon.
We got there in the late afternoon with just a few precious hours of golden light left to capture these photos. The water was insane…clear and just cold enough to wash off the heat and sweat of the hike. The best part? We were almost the only ones there. Everyone goes to Rock Island or Fall Creek Falls and there are always a ton of people there. It’s great to go with friends or family, but for this photo session we really desired seclusion. We ran into just six other people during our visit to Greeter Falls. It was a Monday.
The hike getting to the falls wasn’t bad at all, but once you leave Greeter Falls and turn left for Boardtree Falls not far away…it gets slightly more complicated. Bring your tennis shoes and make sure you have some kind of protective gear for your camera if you have one! This place is incredible; you don’t want to spoil your adventure by tripping over the rocks or dropping your camera.
So, without further ado…
